EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM TEST - WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2024 AT 11:00 A.M.

A test of ±«Óãtv's Emergency Notification Systems at the Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee campuses will be conducted on Wednesday, October 30, at 11:00 a.m.
The test message will be sent via the following emergency communication channels:

  • Alert±«Óãtv on all campuses (text messaging).
  • Digital displays across the Tampa campus.
  • www.usf.edu, stpetersburg.usf.edu, and sarasotamanatee.usf.edu
  • Desktop Alerts on the all campuses (includes faculty/staff computers and classrooms and labs where computers are maintained by ±«Óãtv IT). Note: The desktop alert must be manually installed on ±«Óãtv-owned Macs purchased prior to summer 2014 or Macs not managed by ±«Óãtv IT. Mac owners can submit a request to have the software installed by emailing help@usf.edu.
  • The public announcement systems on all campuses (exterior loudspeakers and strobe lights are intended for outside areas, NOT to reach inside buildings or facilities).

It is anticipated the testing will take less than five minutes and no significant disruption in campus activities are expected. All systems will state that the activation is only a test. To dismiss the alert on your desktop, click on the "Acknowledge" button at the bottom of the screen and you will be able to continue your work.

Faculty and students please note: Most technology classrooms and open use computer labs (i.e., Library computers) have been installed with the desktop alert system. The emergency alert will appear on computers and projection screens in use during the test and/or an actual emergency.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Department of Emergency Management at 974-0870.

Annual Golf Cart Safety Training

Anyone who operates a golf cart on a ±«Óãtv campus is required to take the training program. Training is available online and in person (see below).

The training can be found on the Environmental Health & Safety Website at http://www.usf.edu/administrative-services/environmental-health-safety/training/index.aspx.

Along with completing the required training, please review the new Safety Procedure changes as well (http://www.usf.edu/administrative-services/environmental-health-safety/documents/training-golfcartsafetyprocedures.pdf).

Supervisors please note the new procedure change requires the following: "All operators must also complete an annual statement reaffirming his or her understanding of an agreement to all university policies and procedures regarding cart/utility vehicle operation."  This requirement can be satisfied by sending a Golf Cart Safety Procedures signature sheet (http://www.usf.edu/administrative-services/environmental-health-safety/documents/training-golfcarttrainingreaffirmation.docx) to EH&S each year, or users may choose to retake the online training or attend a classroom training session.
