Stanislaus Khoss, a student at Patel College of Global Sustainability, journeyed from Vienna, Austria, to Tampa, Florida, to pursue his master’s degree in Global Sustainability, with a concentration in sustainable energy. The distinctive natural environment of Florida captivated Khoss, offering an ideal backdrop for his studies in sustainability. During his tenure at PCGS, he has developed a deep appreciation for the close-knit community within the Patel College. Furthermore, Khoss has enriched his educational experience through various projects and interactions with fellow students and alumni, gaining insights into diverse ideas and cultures.
The networking opportunities available at PCGS have enabled Khoss to discover numerous avenues for expanding his knowledge in sustainability. One evident example of this is Khoss’s internship with the Keep Pinellas Beautiful (KPB) non-profit organization, based in Pinellas County, Florida. The organization is dedicated to environmental conservation, pollution prevention, and beautification efforts. Through his role, Khoss oversees organizing, leading and executing beach cleanups, beautification projects and educational outreach programs. His powerful background in project management and environmental impact assessments for renewable energy projects qualified him for this position, as well as his previous internships and volunteer work, giving him the adequate skills needed to spearhead community initiatives and sustainability programs.
Khoss applied for the internship to deepen his commitment to environmental conservation and to foster connections with the local environment and community. He commenced the internship in August 2024 and plans to work with KPB throughout the fall semester. The overall goal for Khoss is to actively involve and educate the community on creating a cleaner and greener environment. This internship will allow Khoss to learn more about environmental education, how to engage the community on sustainability topics and refine his project management skills to aid in the development of large-scale environmental initiatives. However, his work doesn’t stop there, Khoss is also undertaking an assistantship at the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) through the Patel College.
The Patel College of Global Sustainability, along with the ±«Óãtv (±«Óãtv), has served as a significant source of opportunities for Khoss.
