Research: Remote Sensing; Ocean Color; Sea Surface Temperature; Aerosol Optical Depth; Biodiversity

My background is in optical oceanography and my research is primarily focused on the analysis of satellite products to examine the atmosphere and oceans. Some parameters of interest include chlorophyll-a concentration, sea-surface temperature, aerosol optical depth, suspended sediment concentration and the absorption of light due to Colored Dissolved Organic Matter (CDOM). I have developed three web-based data portals for the Flower Garden Banks and Florida Keys, which display current oceanographic conditions and alert users to anomalous conditions. I use data from a variety of satellite sensors including SeaWiFS, MODIS, VIIRS, ECOSTRESS and Sentinel-2 and 3. As a member of the ECOSTRESS Science and Applications team, I am currently working to develop relationships between ocean temperatures and biodiversity at spatial scales less than 100m.
