Research Interests

Dr. Miao's research focuses on smart grid power systems and technologies for integrating renewable energy: solar PV and wind grid integration, operation of battery storage systems, direct current grid technologies, power system modeling and stability control, microgrid technology, real-time monitoring/control, data acquisition, protection of power grids, integrating electrical vehicles with power grids, cybersecurity, and more.


Biography

Dr. Miao received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Wuhan, China) in 1992, a master's degree from Nanjing  Automation Research Institute (NARI) in 1997. He completed his PhD in electrical engineering at West Virginia University in 2022. He served as a protection engineer at NARI from 1992 to 1999 and held the position of a transmission planning engineer at Midwest IS from 2002 to 2009. He is currently a professor of EE at ±«Óãtv.
