Dr. Stacy-Ann A. January is an Associate Professor in the school psychology program at the ±«Óãtv. She is also Co-Director of the , which is a nationally recognized research and technical assistance center at ±«Óãtv. The Institute’s mission is to partner with families, communities, and schools to:

  • Advance innovative participatory research, services, and program evaluation;
  • Provide training and technical assistance;
  • Develop research- and evidence-based documents, tools, and resources; and
  • Support implementation and evaluation of federal and state educational policy

Dr. January’s program of research is grounded within an ecological problem-solving framework. She has expertise in academic interventions and decision making in schools within the context of a multitiered system of supports, family-school-community collaboration and family support, and community-centered approaches to promoting access, opportunities, and outcomes for children, families, and communities. Dr. January serves as PI or Co-PI on several grants related to these areas of interest that total over $13 million. Her scholarship has produced over 40 articles, book chapters, and reports as well as numerous presentations and professional articles. Dr. January received the Lightner Witmer Award from the American Psychological Association in recognition of her scholarship’s contribution to the field of school psychology.

Dr. January is Senior Editor of and previously served as Associate Editor for 5 years. She also serves on the editorial boards of , , and journals. Dr. January has been recognized as Outstanding Associate Editor (2020) and Reviewer of the Year (2016) by . Dr. January was Chair of the 2024 , which is a conference that brings together early career scholars in school psychology with advanced scholars in school psychology for mentorship and research support throughout the academic year. She was also Chair of the 2024 Convention Committee for of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. January earned her PhD in school psychology at the University of Georgia and completed an APA accredited, 2000-hour predoctoral internship at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, TX. She was an Institute of Education Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. January is a .
