±«Óãtv School Counseling Interns Receive Valuable Prevention Education Training from the Monique Burr Foundation

Beth Dudjak, MA, from the , visited the ±«Óãtv College of Education to conduct a training session with 15 school counseling interns on September 5, 2024. They participated in the program training, a K-5 evidence-based curriculum for prevention education. This program covers topics such as safety awareness, cyber safety, and bullying prevention, equipping the interns with valuable information and strategies to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to all types of bullying and abuse.

During this training, the interns learned five easy-to-remember safety rules and other universal strategies to protect children that are easy and practical to implement. Now, after completing this training, the interns are eligible to use their free curriculum as school counselors.

The participating interns, as students pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) in Counselor Education, a program offered on ±«Óãtv's Tampa campus, have taken a significant step towards their professional goals. This training session is part of a comprehensive effort to provide students with the general counseling skills needed to become professional counselors in elementary, middle, and high schools. Upon completing the program, they will be eligible to become Florida Certified School Counselors, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
